У большинства рыболовов межсезонье — ловить на летние снасти при температуре около нуля не хочется, да и клев плохой,а льда еще нет. Однако, в это время есть рыба, которая клюет просто отлично, у нее клев в самом разгаре. Это налим, пресноводная форма трески.
Он есть в очень многих озерах и реках Ленобласти, чем севернее, тем его больше. Но во внутренних озерах Карельского перешейка его размер оставляет желать лучшего, в то время как на Ладоге есть реальный шанс на приличный экземпляр. Я лет пять подряд перед самой зимой ловил налима на западном побережье Ладоги, конкретнее — на мысе Иголка, как его называют рыболовы. Официальное название на картах — мыс Резной.
Из дома я выезжал поздним утром, хорошенько выспавшись. Сначала ехал на озерцо Волоярви, где на легкую поплавочную удочку ловил наживку для налима — в основном клевал ершик, иногда мелкий окунек. Снасть нужна тонкая и деликатная, рыба в такое время очень вялая. У меня на той удочке поводок 0.1 при основной леске 0.12 и поплавок с грузоподъемностью 1 грамм. Наживка — мелкий кормовой мотыль, крючок не больше №16. Мелкого мотыля можно купить в аквариумном отделе Кондратьевского рынка.
Когда живцов в 10-литровом ведре плавало уже штук тридцать, я плотно закрывал его крышкой, ставил «в ноги» у переднего пассажирского сиденья и обкладывал чем под руку придется, чтобы меньше трясло на плохой дороге и ведро не перевернулось. Короткий обед и пора ехать дальше, на Иголку. У меня не раз спрашивали знакомые — а что, там, на Ладоге, у кромки тростника мелкой рыбки нет? Есть, отвечал я, но она разрознена, на прикормку мотылем не отзывается неизвестно почему, там нужное количество живца пришлось бы ловить в разы больше. А на Волоярви у болотистого берега этой мелочи полно.
Приехав на Иголку, я парковал машину возле самой протоки в Ладогу. Проток там несколько, и налим не везде. Но все карты выкладывать не стану, кто захочет — найдет. Как говорил один мудрец 2000 лет назад: «Ищите и обрящете, стучите и откроется вам». Но вернемся к рыбалке. Кроме ведра, наполовину наполненного водой, нужны инструменты — острый нож, зевник, экстрактор, туристический спутниковый навигатор (смартфон не подойдет!), налобный фонарик, белая изолента, теплый зимний костюм, лучше всего с мембраной, и резиновый забродный костюм высотой по грудь. А также небольшая гребная лодка, не для того, чтобы на ней передвигаться, а чтобы возить в лодочке ведро с живцами, инструменты, и в нее же складывать улов.

Снасть для ловли налима — простейшее мотовило с двумя-тремя метрами лески 0.3, тоньше не надо. На конце крупный одинарный крючок, реально крупный, чтобы можно было было проколоть живца под спинку и жало торчало наружу. Сантиметрах в 30 выше крючка грузило, весом граммов 20-30. Двойники и тем более тройники не нужны, налим заглатывает жадно, и если одинарник еще есть шанс достать с помощью инструментов, то с двойными или тройными крючками придется отрезать леску и доставать крючок только при потрошении улова.
Итак, время — начало сумерек, лодка накачана, все необходимое в нее положено. Одеваю на себя теплые носки, это важно, и затем зимний костюм с мембраной. Поверх костюма — забродный комбинезон. Беру лодку за веревку и иду по протоке к внешней кромке тростника. Уровень Ладоги в разные годы сильно отличается, и иногда удается зайти, не затопив костюм, до дальних мысов тростника, а иногда идти только вдоль кромки, а то и в окнах в глубине растительности.
Щупаю дно ногами, ищу участки с камешками. Если среди тросты лежит большой камень, это точно перспективное место. Итак, возле каменистых мест беру в руки пучок тросты из как минимум десятка стеблей и на полметра выше воды приматываю мотовильце белой изолентой. Наживляю ершика или окунька и распускаю снасть до дна.
На одного рыболова разрешено ставить не больше десяти жерлиц. Но больше и не нужно. Ставлю их не часто, метрах в 10 одна от другой, и каждую точку заношу в навигатор. Это важно, иначе есть риск потерять жерлицу, ведь в кромешной тьме даже белая изолента в луче налобного фонарика не всегда легко заметна. А ночь нужна именно темная, облачная, чтобы не было ни луны, ни даже звезд. Налим любит темноту.
Расставив снасти, возвращаюсь по протоке к машине и, слегка вытащив лодку, первым делом снимаю забродный комбинезон. В воде могло быть совсем не жарко, ведь зима на носу, но тело все равно дышит и из-за внешней резиновой оболочки скапливается пот. Мембранный костюм за 2-3 часа полностью просохнет, а у теплого, но «старозаветного», не дышащего, в прокладке останется влага. И когда пойдете проверять донки через 2-3 часа, в таком костюме будет уже конкретно холодно.
А донки проверять надо регулярно, те, кто ставит их на всю ночь, не только теряет значительную часть улова, но и не разведывает место, ничему не учится, пропадает рыбацкий азарт. Такие рыболовы, собрав донки поутру и поймав пару налимов, как обычно, кивают на погоду, не то давление, не тот ветер и т.д. А на самом деле нужно выявлять уловистые места, снимать донки с точек, где не клюет и переставлять их ближе к клевым местам, в общем, включать голову.
У меня был случай, когда я на авось поставил донку в окне в глубине тростника, на глубине всего полметра, возле камня. Через два часа на ней сидел налим, хотя остальные девять, расставленные глубже, принесли лишь еще одного. Я снял одну из донок с внешней кромки и поставил в том же «окошке». Через два часа на обеих донках у камня на мелководье сидело по налиму, а на внешней кромке лишь один мелкий. Я вспомнил, что видел еще камни в глубине тросты, и переставил донки к ним. При следующей проверке я снял пять вполне приличных налимов! А если бы спал в машине или сидел «за рюмкой чая» с приятелями у костра, общий улов был бы гораздо меньше. Потому что три донки, оставленные на внешней кромке как контрольные, больше не дали ни одной поклевки.
Поутру, собрав все донки и инструменты, убрав лодочку в чехол, уложив вещи в машину, ставлю палатку. На двух пенках плюс самонадувающийся коврик, укрывшись толстым спальником-одеялом, в запасной теплой одежде, так хорошо спится, вдыхая прохладный аромат сосновой хвои, слушая шум волн и щебетанье птиц!
